5 Easy Ways to become more Mindful and to Shift your Mindset

Mindfulness and mindset are quite the trendy buzzwords right now. Both are spoken about in workplaces, yoga classes, and even schools; now that is amazing. I’m all for it!

I believe a shift toward greater mindfulness will help us collectively evolve and move forward with a greater amount of empathy and love for others. Shifting our mindsets in a more positive direction is also vital, as the more positive we are in our thoughts, the more likely we are to experience peace, joy, and harmony in our daily experiences.

What does it mean to be mindful, and how do we go about changing our mindset?

The practice of mindfulness can look different by modality, religion, belief system, and even from person to person. However, a generally accepted definition of mindfulness is “being aware and being at peace as a result of that awareness.”

Mindset is the way you “see” the world, as in, the perspective from which you view life. According to universal law, mindset plays a huge role in how you experience life. If your vantage point of life is generally joyful and relaxed, then the theory states that your experience will match that joyful and relaxed vibration; more happy thoughts equal a greater likelihood of happier experiences.

Being mindful and shifting your mindset doesn’t have to be complicated. Small changes in behavior and perspective can lead to big shifts in your experiences.

Here are 5 easy ways you can become more mindful and shift your mindset:

  1. Create peace within through meditation, journaling, yoga, and walking in nature.

  2. Be present and “in the moment.” Stop multitasking and fully take in what’s going on around you

  3. Be grateful. Have gratitude and appreciation for your life. You can always find one or two things to be thankful for.

  4. Experience more joy, in as many ways possible. You can create joyful moments by doing everyday things with purpose: listening to a song you love, noticing a beautiful or majestic bird, feeling the slight breeze on your skin. Give this one a try; it’s a lovely feeling and brings more happiness to your days.

  5. Receive creative ideas and guidance from wherever you pull your inspiration, be it Spirit, past loved ones, a collective group, etc. Being receptive to information opens you up to your intuition, and all of the above will give you space to enhance your creativity.

The process of being mindful is a little different for everyone; however, the ultimate goal of mindfulness is to feel more peaceful, relaxed, and aware, exactly as you are at this moment in time. The opportunity to change your mindset becomes more likely when you are in a mindful state, so mindfulness allows for the shifts in your views and perspectives to happen more fluidly and naturally. When you are mindful, you will find peace easier to attain and sustain.
